To get this I used:
From top left, clockwise, Ever bi Lena Lucent Powder, Layered Eyeshadow, UV Cut, Comb Mascara Long & Curl, Neo Color Blush Duo and half a makeup wedge.
I tore one makeup wedge in half, because the torn edge is uneven, and will help put the base/primer/foundation more flawlessly on the face.
Daiso sells bags of makeup wedges for $2. I got a packet that contains 12.
Put UV Cut (base) on the torn side of makeup wedge.
Pat that all over the face. Then apply eyeshadow using the sponge tip applicator in the palette.
Layered Eyeshadow from Daiso, $2.
As you can see from the swatch below, this palette isn't very pigmented. I think the colors are pretty, but my first impression of it is that this doesn't works, because it falls off by the time I finish my lips and am ready to go out.
But I think it may work with a good eyeshadow primer. Nevertheless, I find it a bit illogical to buy an eyeshadow that doesn't works and then go and invest in Urban Decay Primer Potion, simply because there are many eyeshadows that are extremely long-lasting on their own already.
Pretty colors, but not that good payoff.
The swatch below is for the Neo Color Duo Blush.
Swatches for Neo Color Duo Blush.
I feel like this blush is a little bit light and really not as pigmented as those I am used to. But it is quite a great match for my warm skin tone. haha, I can literally wear orange.
I find this blush so light that I am pretty sure it will double up as an eyeshadow too!
Lastly, I put on a Lucent Powder from Daiso. This is the pink one, but it comes in blue, white, green, and beige too! Thumbs up for Daiso products that comes in color-correcting shades.
Lucent Powder in Pink.
I really LOVE the packaging, that is, this blue compact that it comes in, simply because I used to watch my mother put on her makeup, and she always uses a blue compact with that mirror on there.
I am using this same sponge to keep within budget. My only gripe with the compact is that it doesn't comes with a sponge.
My multi-tasking half wedge.
My mascara. It's my favorite now! I can't believe my favorite mascara is a simple $2. This works.
The same mascara I used in my $20 Makeup Challenge Video.
Just wanted to show you the UV Cut and Lucent Powder. The right half is the made up hand that looks obvious fairer and pinker, while the left is my bare hand.
Effect of making up my hand.
So that's my eye makeup!
As you can see, the colors on the eye just didn't really stay... ... I packed on a lot at the beginning and this is right after I finished with my lips, and the browns are all gone. Only the base skin color is still obviously there.
I have a $2 eyeshadow primer, and I will try using that.
Once again, look at the lovely effect of that mascara.
I forgot to include my lipstick in the first photo. Pardon me. =)
I use a red lipstick from Daiso that really isn't red at all. =P
This looks more peachy coral to me.
And there is the orange blusher!
On hind sight, it does makes my skin look more yellow. I still like the way it turned out very natural though. I think out of all the makeup, blush is always my weak spot.
And that's all! As of current, I am having fun challenging myself everyday, trying different combination of budget beauty to see how it turns out. This is another one to add to my "moneysense" tag. Do check out my "moneysense" tag on the blog for more budget beauty if you haven't seen it. =D
Have you tried to keep the cost of your makeup down? What do you feel when you need to take care of every little aspect, including whether to use a brush, whether to use a lash curler, etc?
