Beyonce fans go after Omari Hardwick for kissing her at NAACP Image Awards: 'It's disconcerting' - USA TODAY

The stars of "Black Panther" and plenty of colorful dresses dominated the red carpet at the 50th NAACP Image Awards in Hollywood on March 30. AP

Omari Hardwick's interaction with Beyonce at Saturday's NAACP Image Awards was not exactly "Flawless," according to some. Critics are saying the actor got too close for comfort.

In footage shared by website The Shade Room to Instagram, Hardwick, who portrays James "Ghost" St. Patrick on "Power," can be seen posing with Jay-Z before greeting Beyonce with kiss on the cheek and hug. He then gives her another kiss that appears to land toward the corner of her mouth before walking away.

Hardwick's kisses got mixed reviews on Twitter.

Some thought Hardwick overstepped.

"A respectable handshake would have worked just fine from Omari Hardwick," one person expressed. "Women don't need to be grabbed, hugged and kissed unless its your wife/girlfriend."

Similarly, another directed: "Fellas, take this Omari Hardwick with Beyoncé situation and apply it to your interactions with women. Handshakes are the answer. You never know if something you're doing with the hug and kisses on the cheek will make a woman feel awkward so just don't do."

Writer Rebecca Theodore-Vachon also made a case for the handshake.

"So this Omari/Beyoncé thing - as a general rule when greeting someone, I keep it at a handshake. Kisses and hugs have to be consensual with BOTH parties...while we think we may know these celebrities, they are not property and they don't belong to us. They are still people with boundaries - please act accordingly," her tweets read.

"There are boundaries and he encroached... it's disconcerting," wrote another.

Another felt "that second kiss was sooooo uncalled for and disrespectful."

Others on Twitter were less bothered by the interaction.

"Omari kissed beyoncé twice... and?" reacted one user who added the eye roll emoji.

"Oh please. Folks assuming things again," another posted. "Celebs kiss each other all the time. Like a ridiculous amount. Beyonce could turn her head and cheek to avoid a kiss. She not new."

"If i was omari ida kissed Beyoncé twice too," one person posted, adding a laughing emoji.

Some on Facebook were less upset. It was a 'Hollywood kiss,' " a person wrote on a posting on the occurrence by comedian Reese Waters. "What's the big deal? She was right next to her husband."

"There was nothing disrespectful about that kiss although he did get two kisses," another person posted. "He was not out of line"

The Beyhive was rocked, and swarmed Hardwick's Instagram, leaving bee emojis on his posts.

"We get it you're a Beyoncé fan but respect her space🗣🗣🗣🗣🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝" read one comment.

"STAY AWAY FROM BEYONCÉ 🗣🗣🗣🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝" a person advised.

"Forget the 2nd kiss, that was too close to her mouth🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝" another person posted.

"Just so you know, everyone is mad cause you violated her personal space and you clearly made Beyoncé uncomfortable. It's just not cool, you wouldn't like if someone did it to you," a user stated. "As a woman that's been in a situation where I feel violated by a man by something 'simple' he did. I'm just saying it was uncalled for. She felt the love the first time the second time made it weird."

Beyoncé Didn’t Go to College, But Homecoming Is Her Graduation - The Cut

A year after she delivered a Coachella performance so epic the whole 2018 festival was given the moniker "Beychella," Netflix dropped Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé. For the past year, only bootlegs of the performance existed, but the Beyoncé-directed concert doc, which gloriously melds together both of her Coachella weekend sets, finally brings us all to the pyramid-shaped stage that was so iconic festival organizers displayed it again this year. (Yes, Beyoncé is such an icon that her stage, without her on it, is worth a visit.)

Beychella celebrated America's historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs), and the annual homecoming that brings alumni back to them each fall, filling the streets with beautiful, smart, black people. It's a week of football games, marching bands, and step-dancing routines so intricate that they rival any choreography on Broadway. Black sororities and fraternities proudly wear their colors and do dance routines that go back to the early 1900s. In the film, Beyoncé talks about growing up in the shadow of Prairie View A & M University in Texas (established in 1876, just 13 years after the Emancipation Proclamation, it is one of the nation's oldest HBCUs) and about seeing Coachella as her own homecoming to the stage after the difficult birth of her twins. Howard's homecoming website describes the event as "that intense excitement and happiness you get when you come home and reconnect. It's Black love. It's steeped in excellence, truth and service." That description is as apt as any for what Beyoncé's Coachella performance and Homecoming documentary are about as well. But for me, Homecoming was not just a tribute to the world of HBCUs and black love and excellence, it is a tribute to something I've come to consider and appreciate deeply: the education of Beyoncé Knowles-Carter.

Beyoncé Wears Balmain Couture at the NAACP Image Awards - Vogue

No one puts on a show like Beyoncé. From Beychella to On the Run II, Mrs. Carter has been wowing audiences for the past two decades, so it came as no surprise this weekend when she picked up the NAACP Image Award for Best Entertainer. The diva may have skipped the red carpet at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, but she and stylist, Zerina Ackers weren't going to let a fashion moment go to waste. Dressed in the opening look of Olivier Rousteing's Spring 2019 Balmain couture collection, she picked up top honors from presenter Viola Davis. With its sculptural silhouette, revealing slit, and belted waist, the dramatic white suit was the right choice for a night that celebrated showmanship.

On Instagram, Beyoncé gave fans a 360 view of her look and husband Jay-Z—who took home the night's President's award—in his custom navy Louis Vuitton suit styled by June Ambrose. Beyoncé topped off the ensemble with the collection's matching oversized hat and a pair of Giuseppe Zanotti silver sandals, radiating confidence and the star quality that won her accolades in the first place.

The actress walked the red carpet at the 2018 Screen Actors Guild Awards Sunday, gushing to E! News during their pre-show about the time she met Oprah Winfrey.

It all went down in the bathroom at the Soho House. "She was coming out of the stall," Munn recalled of the talk show host. "At the Soho House, there's a window and not mirrors. And I see her in the reflection so I'm washing my hands not saying anything."

It was Winfrey who finally broke the silence in the room: " "Oh, it's a full moon,' " Munn remembered Winfrey saying. Scrambling for something to say in return, Munn told Winfrey, "I saw! You know what, in full moons they say crazy things happen and all my friends are breaking up."

The exchange had Munn laughing. "I was like, 'I love you,' " Munn said, explaining that Winfrey then walked out of the bathroom.
